I know I have shared this on FB already, but thought I'd add it to my blog too and give you some details...
I used the gorgeous stamp set from Prima Marketing, designed by the very talented Jamie Dougherty.
I wanted to experiment with my new Brushos, like a typical art/craft addict I had to buy the whole set hehe.
Once I had created my background, using warm colours, (Crimson, Orange and Dark Brown), I then stamped the bird. I used Potting Soil from the Archival range, but wishing now I had used a Distress one as some of the lines are a little to harsh for my liking, but live and learn, right? ;) I think if I could have blurred some of the lines out with water it would have had a better effect.
Once everything was layed out and stamped, I then went over with my Sennelier watercolours, to add depth and give it some definition away from the Brusho 'splatter'. I only have a small palette of colours but I find I can mix near enough anything with them, but they're quality is brilliant!
After all this was done, I touched up with a fine white pen give back some shape of the original design.
Speaking of watercolours, have you seen the series that have come out from Prima Marketing? I want the whole set.. they look like sweet little boxes deliciousness! Just trying to work out how I can justify getting them when I already have a set of amazing colours and recently purchased the Brushos too!! Any ideas...? ;) No doubt I'll cave at some point whether it is now of in the future, so may as well get now... Does that work?? haha
Just want to say such a huge thank you for all your congrats to me on yesterdays post, you all make me smile so much :)
...I am in so much shock, and when I sent off the application for this team, I just completely moved it to the back of my mind, thinking 'I won't get a spot but at least I tried'...
When this, most amazing and magical email came through I had to re-read it a handful of times, babble incoherently to the hubs, and try to explain the magnitude of the situation for me to him. I guess this is what it's like when he talks to me about football ;)
Those who know me and follow me know how I adore Prima products and especially Finnabair's line, so to be on the DT for Finn's shop, Mixed Media Place, is just the biggest dream come true, and one I honestly thought, I'd never be worthy of!!
But here it is... little old me...
and here are the rest of my incredibly talented teamies...
This is going to be an incredible journey, and one which I am so very grateful for! :)
To all who have supported me, leave me comments, either here or on FB, I thank you so much, you have no idea what they mean to me but it is huge. I read every single one and they make me smile a lot, and give me the confidence to keep going.
I hope you're all having a lovely weekend and finding some time to be with your art.
Today I'm sharing another altered book!! Yup... another... I am LOVING making these, quite therapeutic really and I love the end result. The new releases from IndigoBlu are just perfect for this kind of look too!
Big shout out to Jenny again, who so kindly sent me some book base die cuts and this gorgeous Birch Tree Die. Doesn't it look perfect with the Cartography papers peeking through from behind?
This one is Script. I have a few word or script stamps and this is one of the best out there. A script stamp should be a staple in any collection and really recommend this above the others as it is a great size, stamps cleanly and the lettering is just perfect!!
This lady is called 'Elsie'. I stamped her after I had the paper crinkled, but I really like the abstract way she came out!!
Come check out what my other teamies have made here, they are a super talented bunch.
