Halloween Pillow Boxes

Just something very quick I knocked up this evening for some little squidglets tomorrow.

Literally done these in a couple of hours, and if I could have had more time I would have done some bits differently, but hey ho always next year :) Still wanted to share the Halloween spirit, I do love this time of year and the colours that are about.

The glitter one above is for the girls and the boys will have plain black, partly because I don't want to insult their masculinity (hmm... :) do two year olds really care? And partly (or mainly) because I'm feeling it's time for bed :) early start tomorrow!

I used Tim Holtz Paper Stash French Industrial as the stripes reminded me of those paper sweetie bags you get. (Didn't really turn out how I would have liked but it's the sweets that count, right?!!) :) i love the Tim Holtz pillow box die for quick mash ups like these x

I'd like to enter this - or the top one at least - in the Country View Crafts Sparkle and Shine Challenge for October

I'd like to enter this into the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes

Sparkle and Shine Christmas Tags

I had an idea for Christmas tags this year a little while a go, inspired of course by a tag that Tim Holtz did, and then when Country View Challenges came up with the Sparkle and Shine Challenge for October it gave me the kick start that I needed to get them going.

I used the Tim Holtz Carved Ornaments die with the ‘JOY’ movers and shapers with mount board. Then inked that with Barn Door Distress Ink and once dry I used Rock Candy Crackle Distress.

Some I have left alone and some I went over to fill the cracks with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

After the top sections were done I cut ovals so it would have a black background for the Black Distress Stickles to go on.

Whilst everything was drying I then cut good quality ivory card from the ornaments die, without the ‘JOY’ movers and shapers, to go on the back to address the labels so they can be addressed to the lucky recipient :) Hehe I looooove Christmas xx

WOYWW 281

Here is my WOYWW today :)

Here is my (makeshift) desk in all its splendour...

Haha... just a tad bit messy, been working in my new(ish) art journal - a pressie from the hubs :)

Experimenting with some Prima Colour Bloom Sprays and the Prima lace flower ribbon. It's not a finished page, in fact no where near but this is where I am with it so far, not sure how it will end up but I'm learning to embrace not being control with art.

Got a lot on my crafty list and a little boy who is very eager to help and is insisting on wearing two hats (cannot believe how much character he has...) so back to an afternoon of fun :)

Thanks for looking :) xxx

Under Sea Mixed Media Card

My cousin and his lovely wife had their baby a few days a go. They both love the sea so I thought I'd do a sea theme card for their  new baby Cadan to welcome him to the world.

I started with a small piece of scrap mount board, then I randomly placed dry wall tape.

Homemade texture paste was used next to help adhere and set a 'broken' frame and a few of the big shells so they disappear into the background. After that came one of my favourite mediums, Garcia Glass Beads. I love these for sea themes! :)

(Excuse the compass, decided the piece looked better without it)

Then I applied the rest of the sea bits and began to spray paint using Prima Colour Bloom Sprays in Colbolt, Tangerine, Lime Wedge, Soft Teal and Glistening Waves.

Here's the result of that:

Very shimmery and a big mess of colours, but it did look stunning in certain lights.

Next came the knocking back bit. Without a shadow of a doubt PaperArtsy Chalk Paints in Nougat and Snowflake are my favourite for this technique, cannot fault them. I did go back again and add some more intensity of colour and knock back gain. You just keep going until it looks right :)

Then to add some sparkle to the top layer, more glass beads and some Rock Candy Distress Stickles. Shame you can't really see it in the pictures though.

Here's a close up of the end result:

Voila - done :) xx

Prima Something Blue Mini Album

Some very close friends of ours had their wedding earlier in the year and as with these things a little (or a lot) of drink starts to flow and something always has to happen... In their case it was their wedding guest book, and from here I will leave the rest to your imagination :)

So, in light of this I offered to take the words from the book and create them a new book using the Prima Something Blue range. These papers are gorgeous and imagine they would suit any classic/traditional/vintage wedding.

Also complete with a pretty box to keep it in:

Tim Holtz Ornate Plates and printed the title on plain white paper

 Tim Holtz box corners

Tissue paper wrapping to help keep the album safe

I finally decided upon a mini album following mama tutorials (very very good if you're a beginner like me) and use the pre-made 3x4 and 6x4 cards in the range to put the comments on. After that I set about following the instructions and made the mini album.

The front

Inside front cover little photos of their wedding

Each little pull out note has the the words of the guest copied on to the back and then space for journalling on the front.

Notes from the guests copied onto pretty paper

Prima ATC and Journalling Cards from the Something Blue range used throughout

Tim Holtz embellishments used

 Lotes of pockets and flaps

Really wanted to incorporate the Something Old/New/Borrowed/Blue squares from the collection pack in here somewhere, but couldn't fit them on one page so came up with this little folded square. Once opened there is room for mini pics of each one.

Oops dodgy photo - sorry :)

And again

 Tim Holtz Key

Mini photos of their wedding inside the back cover

The back

Lots of pics, more for me than anything else, so I have a record. I will feel sad parting with this album, it's my first one and spent the last four months slowly making it. Onwards and upwards, I'm making another one as a wedding planner style book and really enjoy the process.  The reward once complete will be worth it.

Thanks for looking
